This is a popular math book read by children and educators.
By looking at the cover's images and text, do you believe a boy or girl child is more likely to relate or enjoy this story? Why?

I think that a boy would like this book better. I think that boys would like castles and medieval times, and that the book is geared more towards them. Even the title has the word "sir" in it.

Angelo...Thank you for your thoughts!... It's interesting how you noticed the word "sir". I also thought the same thing. Adventure is also a word I have found in the research that is associated more with males than females.

I agree with Angelo. This book would likely attract males over females, as the central character on the cover (and throughout the book) is a KNIGHT, a character who typically 'saves the female in distress', and so it seriously downplays, consciously or unconsciously (I believe the former)the role of the female strengths.

Anna,
I agree and find your comment "saves the female in distress" very interesting. I wonder if children see women as "helpers" or "weak" as well?
